Get to know me

Hey, my name is Caitlin
I was born and raised in Haliburton, and am now living in Bancroft with my husband, two daughters, and our chaotic but lovable crew of two dogs, chickens, and cat. Life at our house is always buzzing, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I live just two doors down from my brother and sister-in-law, and we talk most days with walkie-talkies and have a standing Tuesday night dinner date. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from living so close to the people I love, it’s that the best moments often come from the simple, everyday things—something I try to capture in my photos.
When I’m not chasing after my kids or wrangling the pets, you can usually find me hiking, thrifting, listening to podcasts, wandering through an art gallery or enjoying a crisp cider.
People might describe me as a little shy and soft spoken at first, but the people closest to me would describe me as eccentric and outgoing in the right setting.
I originally studied Early Childhood Education in Ottawa, but photography is where my heart truly lies. And while I’m not an ECE anymore, the patience and creativity I learned there are definitely things I bring into my work as a photographer when photographing young families.
So that’s me in a nutshell. I’m all about real, authentic moments—and I’m here to capture the ones that tell your unique story.
Random Facts About Me
My real love for photography started with street photography. I moved to BC on a whim to photograph the Downtown Eastside and created a photo book based on my experiences there.
After high school I packed my bags and left to backpack through Europe for the year. I toured through 8 countries and experienced highs and lows from climbing mountains in Switzerland to having my camera stolen in a youth hostel in Italy.
I used to have a family cottage in Nova Scotia and learned to surf there. One day about an hour after surfing we found out that all of the surrounding beaches had been closed due to a huge group of great white sharks that were spotted swimming up the coast. Safe to say I didn't get back in the water for a long time.
My husband and I actually met in high school but were both too shy to make the first move. We reconnected years later over a mutual love for a musician we used to listen to together. For my birthday the first year we were dating he surprised me with tickets to one of their concerts.
